In this month’s newsletter, we’re looking at ways we can use cutting-edge technology to improve the way we work in the workplace.
Communications after Lockdown
The world around us has changed a lot over the last few months, as lockdowns were imposed across the globe in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we turned in huge numbers to digital channels for business communication, entertainment, information, education, and to stay in touch with family and friends. In combination with the rapid move for many to work from home, it has led to a whole new emphasis on the importance of being connected and having the ability to adapt.
For Excel Communications, particularly at the outset of the national lockdown, our staff worked tirelessly to ensure our customers were able to adapt to working from home, providing additional equipment for both our staff and customers, providing the right technology, mobility and collaboration tools across organisations alongside robust business continuity and adaptive security capability.
Collaborating with Microsoft Teams
It’s not surprising that our team embraced collaborative working online using Microsoft Teams throughout the national lockdown, after all, it is best known for its impressive conferencing and collaboration features, which many businesses are benefiting from more now than ever. The powerful all-in-one hub makes the collaboration of staff easier and smoother, no matter the distance between them.
One thing we didn’t consider at the start, was Teams’ powerful telephony capabilities as we’d never had the requirement before the lockdown to work remotely en masse. It turns out we could connect our VoIP phone platform with Teams, this enabled us to to utilise all the usual Teams communication functions, whilst also have the ability to simply communicate with the outside world using all the capabilities of the hosted telephone system.
As a consequence of this technology, we have now utilised the Teams calling capabilities throughout all of our departments which lets us make or receive business phone calls, create voice menus, call queues, record calls, get detailed statistical reports, plus much more.
If you would like to know more, please don’t hesitate to give us a call on 03333 660 770, we’ll be happy to tell you more about our experience and the pros and cons of using Microsoft Teams voice calling.

Everyone wants faster, more reliable Internet connections and many are already embracing VoIP to deliver telephony through the Internet. To achieve this, BT needs to stop maintaining the old copper cables that have been in the ground for the best part of 100 years and focus on modern solutions such as fibre optic products.
